Christopher Alan Elffers, age 66. Beloved husband of Janet (nee Klimek), dearest father of Clara Elffers and Emily Hauenstein (Korbin); loving son of the late John F. and Loretta J. (nee Vanderzyden); dear brother of Sharon Bode (George), John (Joni), Beth Gilmore (James) and Doug (Cheryl); loving uncle and friend of many. Chris grew up on the West side of Cleveland, where he graduated from Rocky River High School. He was a 4th-generation painter, taught by his dad, and eventually started his own painting company. He loved getting to know his clients, and he taught the trade to many— especially treasuring the chance to work with several of his nieces and nephews. In his free time, Chris enjoyed spending time in God’s creation, with a special love for fishing, hiking, birds, and squirrels. He will be remembered for the way he made others laugh with his unique rhyming poems, entertaining stories, and his own laughter that often brought him to tears.
Chris lived out his faith as a loving husband and father. He was a hard worker who took great joy in his role as a dad, supporting and delighting in his girls’ activities and milestones. He sought to put Jesus first in his life and loved to share the hope of Christ with others, even in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Community Church.
