Harry Brooks Davis (aka Buck, HB) passed away on October 11, 2022 at 83 years old. Beloved husband of JoAnn Davis, loving father to Patty Horvath, Tami Bosetin, Chris (Loren) Davis, Cindy Bosetin, Keith Davis, Heather (Brian) Lauro, Kelly (Craig) Velotta Kachline, loving grandfather to Michelle and Christina Davis, Gabe and Brenna Francis, Dylan Kachline, Anthony Velotta, Nick Horvath and Ryan Kerry. Son of the late Okey and Vera Davis; brother to Bonnie Davis, Alice Roseman, Bobby (Janet) Davis and the late Junior Davis, Eugene Davis, Irene Davis, Mary Montgomery, John Davis, Maxine Davis, Lilly Davis, Britton Davis and Mavis Risley. Harry B. Davis was born on April 3, 1939, in Glenville, West Virginia. Harry graduated from Glenville High School as Vice President of his class in 1957. After graduating high school, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, served in the Army Reserve and honorably discharged in 1966. Harry (Buck) had a passion for large equipment and was well versed from working on the family farm. He started his career—invested in a backhoe digging basements. With great determination, strong work ethic and leadership, he built a pipeline literally and figuratively which started as HB Davis Excavating, and flourished into DDD Enterprises (sewer and water line excavation). In the mid-1980s he and his wife JoAnn ventured into land development. They worked tirelessly, building several residential developments in Medina, Summit, Cuyahoga and Lake Counties. He had a brilliant mind working with heavy highway equipment and figuring out ‘the impossible’. Harry was highly respected in the construction industry maintaining high standards and standing behind his ‘word’. He never apologized for high standards and ‘told it like it was’ (at least in his mind). Despite his high standards, he felt his employees were family and treated them in kind. He was a very generous human being to which many can attest. He enjoyed hunting with the ‘the good ole boys’, breeding Charolais cattle, cutting miles of grass, planting orchards of trees and spending time on his away farm in Glenmont OH with family and friends. They were snowbirds when the weather got cold fleeing with their fur baby, Dobermans to sunshine in Marco Island/Naples, Florida, RVing with friends and family.
The family plans to honor and celebrate Harry’s life at DiCicco and Sons Funeral Home, October 28, 2022, 10:00am to 12:00pm. Memorial service to follow at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please consider being kind, telling someone you love them and making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
