Honorable Mary Jane Trapp, Retired. Age 68, passed away on April 24, 2025. Beloved wife of the late F. Michael Apicella, and Daughter of the late Jean (Buchanan) and Richard Trapp of Eastmoor, Ohio. Judge Trapp was a graduate of the Columbus School for Girls, Mount Holyoke College, and Case Western Reserve College of Law. Ret. Judge Trapp served on nine Supreme Court of Ohio commissions, committees and task Forces, Ohio Judicial Conference and College Committees, co-chaired the Ohio Jury Instructions Board of Editors and on the Appellate Law and Procedure Committee, among other committees. She also served as President of the Ohio State Bar Association and was recipient of numerous awards, including the Centennial Medal recipient from the Case Western Reserve School of Law Alumni Association. She is also past President of the Columbus School for Girls Alumnae Association and was the Alumna of the Year from the Columbus School for Girls. She is recently retired from Ohio’s Eleventh District Court of Appeals, where she sat as judge from 2007-2013 and 2019-2025. She was an incredible friend to all who knew her, and the biggest cat lover. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary Jane’s Memory to the Columbus School for Girls 65 S. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday May 5, 2025 at 10 am. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd.
