Our dear Aunty Jay.  My memories of you, when you would visit Vancouver with your sisters, are so sweet. I would have only been five years old, maybe six, and remember receiving the colourful shirts and pants you made for me. Even then, I knew that they were made with love. I was always impressed with your fierce independence. You looked to the world small and slight, I always thought like a delicate bird, but you were tough and self-sufficient. I'm sorry that we lost touch with you these last years; I hope your passing was gentle. Love from your nephew Andy.

Dear Walter:

I was saddened to hear of Jay's passing.   Her sisters were gone and I did not know anyone close to her that I could contact to share in my feelings of sadness.  I had known Jay from her and Ellen's arrival to Cleveland.  In 1998 I left Ckleeland for CA but November, 1998, I went on a Panama  cruise with her,   We kept in touch with each other and the last time I saw her was 8 years ago.

I recall Jay talking about Hilda.

We've been thinking about Aunty Jay for a while now and wondered how she was or if in fact she'd passed.   I'm so sad to see that she's passed.

I madly craft (knit mostly, some crochet) which 'the aunties' taught me as a kid - I also cherish memories of Aunties Jay and Ellen coming to Vancouver, shopping up a storm in Chinatown, Aunty's happy hour with scotch and lots of ice, and the singalongs with ukulele.   Not sure where she's laid to rest but will keep her in mind when we get to Hawaii end of this year, and visit the family plot and leave some flowers.
