I just found out that Jody had passed away today. (July 22, 2020)  Jody and I dated in high school our senior year.  It was not a normal high school friendship. It was one that changed my life, our life. We met each other again 20 years after graduation.(1997)  We caught up on twenty years, asked questions that we were too immature to even ask when 18 years old.  One of the questions that was asked was how would you describe our relationship...and we both said together "you were my first Love".  
I shared some pictures of us for your memory of your Mom.  It seems many people loved your Mom...i can understand that.  
Lisa and my sister were friends in high school. (Adrienne). We grew up on Ranchland in Mayfield Heights. 
Jody went to college in Pa at Westminster and I went on to U of Cincinnati .  
God Bless you Jody. Like I told you, you will always have a place in my heart. You passed too young but left one heck of a legacy and my memory of you is as if it all happened yesterday.

I worked with Jody at Hiram, and had the pleasure of getting to know a sweet and intelligent women. She was extremely passionate towards both her students and her work. My heart breaks for her family and loved ones. Dave, I will be praying for you and your family during this most difficult time.

We know Jody through her brother Darrell and his wife, Beth.  We know she will be deeply missed as she was loved dearly by her family whom she brought great joy.  Our prayers are with her family, friends and all she touched.

Jody Modarelli remains present in my life--and it will always be that way.  She gave so much to me--to everyone she knew--that it will take an entire lifetime to use up her gifts.  And so, she remains with me.  My great gratitude to those of you who helped shape her and who loved her.

I had the privilege of working with Jody. Not only was she an amazing coworker, she was also an amazing friend. She will be missed by many! My thoughts and prayers are with her family, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, father and siblings.

Jody made a difference in the lives of her students and her colleagues. Their lives will be better for having known her, and she will be missed.

Jody was such a bright light in this world.  I remember her as a PhD student at The University of Akron.  A little boy from China whose mother was studying at the university had his bike stolen.  Jody bought him a brand new bike - I'm sure her giving spirit will live on in that little boy.  My deepest sympathy to her family and to David.

Jody was a wonderful person, a dedicated teacher and scientist, and brought light into the lives of all she touched.  I am grateful to have worked in an adjacent lab at the CCF Innovations center and to have seen her fight so bravely when I volunteered for PanCan events.  Her spirit will live on in those she touched, though her smile will be deeply missed.  Condolences to the family - your loss is the community's loss as well.
