John Paul

John Paul, aged 90, of Gates Mills, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2024, after a short illness. John, the middle of three brothers, was born on May 5th, 1934, in Bellary, India, to father Hospet Gershom Paul and mother Sowbhagya Doddanna Gowda. He completed medical school and, before emigrating to America, married his wife Grace, whom he’d known since childhood. Upon arrival in America he began a distinguished career as a surgeon, which brought him from Spokane, Washington to Cleveland, Ohio. John and Grace, who was also a physician, had two children, Sheila and Sima.They attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and Parkside Christian Church, and counted many friends among the Indian Christian community. John’s wide-ranging interests included family, friends, tennis, cars, good food, and much more. Loving his grandchildren was a source of great pleasure to him. He was devoted to his work and continued working until the time of his passing. John Paul is survived by his daughters and by five grandchildren, Grace, Andrew, Alex, Danny, and Meera. Funeral service 11am Saturday January 4 at THE DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS.,(at Lander Rd.) where the family will receive friends 10 AM UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE.
