Joseph J. Petrik

JOSEPH J. PETRIK, Age 85 of Mayfield Hts. OH, a teacher, nature lover, adventurous spirit but most of all a family man, passed away on 1/5/18 in Mayfield Hts. surrounded by his family. Joe, a lifelong educator, taught at Brush HS from 1958-91 & then subbed at Mayfield HS for 18 years. He inspired many students & was remembered as an influence in their lives. An avid gardener, he loved sharing his abundant zucchini crop. His adventurous spirit was highlighted by a Kenyan safari, family mystery trips, & his love of fishing. He served in the Korean War. Born in Lorain, OH 5/29/32, to John & Mary (Fricovsky) Petrik, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie (DiBartolomeo) Petrik, his children Mike (Jan), Jim, Nancy, Sharon Tricomi (Joe), Christine Czikray (Dan), his grandchildren Chris (Megan), Joe (fiancé Malea), Katie & Rachel Tricomi, and Cassidy & Kylie Czikray & two great-grandchildren Campbell & Henry Petrik. He is preceded in death by his siblings Susan Svec, Stephen Petrik, & survived by his brother Edward (Janice). A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
