Luz Estrella Watkins

Luz graduated from college in Iquitos and was a History and Geography teacher at several high schools in Iquitos. Soon after graduation, she married Santos Rios and gave birth to four sons, Mauro, Santos, Javier, and Carlos. Later in life, after she separated from Santos, she travelled to the United States to start a new life. She settled in Cleveland Ohio where she met and married Gary Watkins who came to be the love of her life until Gary’s passing in 2020. Luz was an extraordinary, loving and determined woman, mother, and wife. She was very much loved by everyone. Her four sons and three grandsons, Luca, Milo, and Gael were the light of her life. She was very inspirational for Beatriz and Noel, her two daughters-in-law whom she loved very much too. She is survived by her sons, grandsons, daughters-in-law, her siblings Paco, Beto, Hugo, Paquita, Maria Elena, and Jorge, her nephew Fernando who was like a son to her, nieces, family and friends. Luz had a very fulfilling life. She showed us how to face challenges and overcome them. She set a fine example of kindness, respect and hard work. Luz will be greatly missed by everyone, especially by her sons who love her dearly. The best mother they could ever have. There will be a get-together for friends and family (according to her wishes) on the 12th of June, at 5 pm, DiCiccio & Sons Funeral Home, 5975 Mayfield Road, Mayfield Hts, OH, 44124. No specific dress code for the occasion.
