It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Dussi. She passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side in Mayfield Village Ohio on Thursday, September 3, 2026. She was born on February 13, 1950 in Trieste, Italy and was the daughter of Daniele and Caterina Dussi.
Maria worked as the Program and Activities Director at Myers Apartments, Menorah Park, and Montefiore for over 35 years and retired at the age of 65. After her retirement, Maria was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. She faced her diagnosis head on and
always stayed optimistic. Her courage and strength have always been unwavering and an inspiration to everyone.
Maria was most proud of the family that she built. She was the devoted mother of her two daughters, Lucia Siupinys (Anthony) and Lailee Zahedi and the doting grandmother of Leanna Siupinys (fiancé Claudia Hickey), Julia Siupinys (fiancé Brendon Sharp),
Giovanna Zahedi and Domenic Zahedi. Maria’s best attributes live on in her daughters and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. They are strong, talented, empathetic and as compassionate and
loving as she was.
Maria was a gifted artist, seamstress and baker, who also had a passion for traveling and learning about people and cultures. Her family will always remember their vacations and road trips together. She was always ready for the next adventure and for trying new things. She had the ability to make every day moments special and memorable. Maria had a great sense of humor and had a talent for story telling. Her ability to unite people through laughter was a special gift. She had a smile that was contagious and would light up any room.
Maria was a strong, independent, loving and kind hearted woman who put everyone before herself. Maria always saw the best in people and inspired those around her. Maria touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness,
warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, 9/11/26 beginning at 4:00 PM at her daughter’s home in Chesterland. Lucia Siupinys, 10625 Cedar Rd. Chesterland, OH 44026.
