

Marilyn Susanna Olson Reichert , “Susie,” beloved wife of Forest Reichert, “Woody,” died peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She is survived by her children Stephen Young (Barbara Stufflebeem), Katherine Hurley, née Young (Chuck Hurley), and Matthew Young (Sara Mierke); stepsons Forest Gage Reichert (Jennifer), William Kyle Reichert (Sarah Flynn), Jonathan Hunter Reichert (Beth) and James Tyler Reichert; grandchildren Oliver Clarke Young, Cloe Charlotte Young, James Walter Hurley, and Alice Susanna Hurley; and Reichert step-grandchildren Griffin, Angus, Fox, Harry, Ben, Charlie, Jack, and Eve. She considered family her greatest blessing. Born in Cleveland in 1935, Susie was the youngest of three Olson girls (Alice Howard and Nancy Morrison)—sisters she loved dearly who preceded her in death. Susie attended Laurel School (’53) and Simmons College (’57). She was previously married to James Young, former headmaster of Hawken School. In 1977, she wed Forest Reichert with whom she had a beautiful marriage until his death in 2021. Co-owner of The Writing Room in Woodmere, Ohio, until her retirement in 2001, Susie was a businesswoman and stationer par excellence . She and Woody loved to dance, attend the theater, and travel, but her greatest joy was entertaining family and friends—especially at Christmastime. Susie is remembered for her unwavering optimism, generous warm spirit, and boundless love of life. A memorial service will be held at Knollwood Cemetery on Saturday, November 26 th at 11:00 a.m.
