Online condolences and guest registry www.diciccoandsonsfh.com Michael Paolucci was a man whose life was defined by hard work, devotion, and deep love for his family and heritage. He was born in Decorata, Italy, a naturalized American citizen through the dedication and sacrifice of his hard-working father, who worked to establish a better life for Michael and his siblings. Michael later immigrated to the United States, first settling in the Bronx, New York. After marrying the love of his life, Lucy, in New York in 1955, the two moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where Michael began working on the railroad. His work ethic and skill later became part of history when he worked at the Collinwood Diesel Locomotive Shop on the world’s first jet locomotive in July of 1966. Above all else, Michael was known for his gentle spirit and kind heart. He was the sweetest soul—someone who valued friendship, community, and time spent with those he loved. A devoted bocce player, he found joy in leagues shared with friends and family, always more interested in the camaraderie than the score. Michael had a deep love for music and celebration. He was often heard humming or singing his favorite Italian songs, filling his home with warmth and familiarity. At gatherings and family celebrations, Michael could always be found on the dance floor, smiling and enjoying every moment. Gifted with his hands, he took great pride in making things from scratch and was especially skilled in woodworking, approaching every project with care, craftsmanship, and a smile that never left his face. Michael’s greatest pride was his family. He expressed his love in the most thoughtful ways, especially through the traditions he carried from Italy into his home. He built a beautiful walk-in garden in the backyard of his home, where he spent countless hours tending his plants. He lovingly picked flowers for his wife, Lucy, harvested vegetables for family meals, and proudly grew tomatoes used to make homemade sauce. He also enjoyed making his own wine and sausage, continuing cherished Italian traditions that brought family and friends together. His fig trees were especially something he was most proud of in the garden. A passionate sports fan, Michael rarely missed a game and enthusiastically supported his Cleveland sports teams. Just as important to him were the games played by his grandchildren—he faithfully attended their sporting events and was always their biggest fan. His Italian heritage meant everything to him, and he took great pride in passing along his traditions, values, and love of family to future generations. Michael Paolucci leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, generosity, and so much love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
