I thought I would share this photo that my father took at one of the early family gatherings we had all those years ago. I still clearly remember these special occasions even now, and memories are flooding back. It is also one of the few photos we are in together! Sending you love and sympathies from afar.

Dear Rosie, 
Sister Karita told me of the death of your husband.  I also read the obituary.  I just want you to know how very sorry I am for your loss.
I’m praying for you and all those who will miss him.  I remember you so well and always enjoyed you — in class and in drama.   Take care  and know that I keep you  in my thoughts during these difficult  and sacred days.

I got my first job at the Mentor Mall Cinema. Paul Gellott ran a great cinema, was always forward-thinking and a fantastic marketer.  He loved his wife Rosie and all of his kids so much. I remember one Christmas Joey was in the hospital at Christmas. Paul was so thankful for his care that he began a toy drive that we continued to deliver for many years to the children of Rainbow Babies hospital. He passed on a legacy of class and high standards of excellence. I will miss him and always will be thankful for his friendship and all of the lifelong cinema friends. In the spring of 1978, I had the unique opportunity to share the stage with Paul in a one act play, The Man With the Flower in His Mouth, at the JCU Little Theatre.  How ironic and prophetic that story would be. Paul was riveting in his performance and very tolerant of my poor attempts to even share the stage with him.  As most college friendships, we eventually went our separate ways. I am saddened to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to Rosie, their children and grandchildren. Keeping you all in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. I can't help but replay the final lines of that play over and over again in my mind.

Condolences to Paul’s entire family and his dear friends.  I was a police officer and worked security when Paul was the manager at the old Mentor Mall Cinema. That had to have been in the early eighties.  We were all so young then, but I always enjoyed talking with him and discussing each others occupations.  We lost touch when he moved on to better positions, but read about him occasionally over the years.  Never forgot our friendship.  Rest in Peace, Paul.

My deepest condolences to everyone who is grieving through this difficult time. I’m incredibly sad to hear about Paul’s passing. Paul was my boss for several years and he was the only reason I made it as far as I did in the company. When I first met him,  all we talked about is how much we liked Disney/Marvel and how he was going on vacation soon to spend time with his family.  He always loved to talk about his family and how much he loved being a grandpa. Anytime something would be going good or super bad at work we’d tell each other everything was “just peachy” and we’d laugh and go “good or bad peachy?” and just talk about it.  He took me under his wing and treated me with so much kindness and respect. He truly was a kind and caring man who I’m grateful for having the chance to have met him.

So sorry to hear about Paul and the great loss it is for his family and friends.  We had known each other for almost 40 years as former General Cinema GM's and currently with AMC.   He would joke with me that I was the old man because I started in the business one month before he did.  Paul always had a welcoming smile and I will miss his friendship and positive outlook.

My deepest condolences to the family of Paul Gellott. He was the general manager of AMC Ridge Park square while I worked there from 2006-2011. He was my first mentor and someone that I really admired and respected. He had an energy that felt safe and calm, someone you just wanted to be around. I am thankful to have had him as my first boss and to set that standard so high. He will be truly missed.

Paul was my first boss, but he was so much more than that. He was there for me through a lot of difficult times. He was an amazing person to work for and he had a light that people were drawn to. He’d start talking about a movie or a story, his face would light up, and everyone would gravitate towards him to listen.  He had an intensity to his work ethic but it was admirable the way he would jump from task to task, never thinking he was above a job that needed to be done…and it is something I have always tried to mirror. I owe so much to Paul and I wish I could thank him for everything.
