PHILOMENA M. CORONA (nee Nero) passed away on Sunday December 12, 2021. She didn’t die from the cancer she had, she was maintaining that. She didn’t die from Covid, she beat that. She died of a broken heart. Philomena and her late husband Gennaro Corona were together for 60 years. It was a love story like no other. Her family is taking comfort in knowing they are together once again. She was one of three children of John and Philomena Nero (nee D’Amico). Philomena was the most caring, giving, hard working woman ever. Her biggest joy was cooking and baking for her family, especially her grandchildren. She made up holidays just to have family and friends over for dinner. Philomena retired from the UFCW Union, Local 880. She was a dedicated loving wife and mother who also cherished being a grandmother. You would have thought she was born in Italy, by the amazing Italian dishes that she mastered from her husband’s hometown. She took pride in Christmas Eve dinner with the traditional Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes. We would have to say her favorite room in the house, where she was happiest was the kitchen. We love you mom and grandma. Philomena is survived by her three children, John Corona, Gina Ferrell (David) and Amorita Corona; Grandchildren, James Corona (Samantha), Anthony Corona and Caprina Daley; Cherished daugther-in-law Kathie Corona and son-in-law John Daley; dearest sister Theresa Ezzo, best friend Celest Tarasco and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Philomena was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gennaro Corona, beloved son Dino Gennaro Corona and dear sister Marie N. Roulan-Bella. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Thursday December 16 at St. Helen Church, Newbury. Interment All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends at THE DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS.,(at Lander Rd.) WEDNESDAY 2-4 AND 6-8 PM. Online condolences and guest registry www.diciccoandsonsfh.com
