(1945 – 2024)
Father Mike died on September 27, 2024 at Hillcrest Hospital at the age of 79 after a week-long stay and health complications. Born July 29, 1945, he was the oldest son of Mary (nee Conway) & James Arkins of Chicago. He is survived by his brother Peter Julian and sister Kathy, brother-in-law Tim Corbett and niece Stacy Lunn Snow (Corbett) and her family.
Father Mike professed religious vows on August 22, 1967 and ordained priest on December 15, 1973.
Father Mike quietly, unassumingly and humbly served the religious community that he loved dearly. He had many roles within the order. In service to the Church, he was a Parochial Vicar at Notre Dame de Chicago, Saint Mary Menasha, WI, Saint Camillus Los Angeles, CA, and Saint Charles Borromeo Albuquerque, NM. He was pastor of Saint Martin de Porres, Taylorsville, UT (1992-1999), Saint Paschal Baylon Highland Heights, OH (1999-2009), Saint Vincent de Paul Holiday, FL (2009-2013), and Saint Eulalia Maywood, IL (2013-2019). He retired, due to health reasons, and served again at Saint Paschal Baylon as Senior Parochial Vicar in 2019. He moved to Regina Health Center, Richfield, OH this year.
Mike was grateful to all his health care providers at Bethany Center, Regina and Hillcrest Hospital and expressed his appreciation for their service.
Visitation and services will be at Saint Paschal Baylon Church, Highland Heights, OH where Father Mike served as the 7th pastor. Evening Prayer will be Friday, October 4, 4:45 PM, visitation following until the Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00 PM (October 4), the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 5, at 10:30 AM (live streamed at www.church.saintpaschal.com.) and Rite of Committal at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
