ROBERT “JOHN” APPLEGATE JR. 85, of Shaker Heights, passed away March 14th, 2024. Beloved Husband of Gail, Father of daughter Terri (deceased), and son’s Scott and Alan (Pauline). Gramp to Halle (Sofia), Ryan (deceased), Tyler, Robbie, Tayleigh, Avery, and Dylan. Dear Brother of Nancy (Jeff) Carlson, Ginger Pizzi (Frank) (both deceased) and Alan (deceased). John got his BA from Gettysburg College in 1960 and then proudly served 4 years as an officer in the US Navy. He spent over 40 years in insurance claims penultimately running his own adjusting company. For many years you could find him at the body shop restoring his classic Lincoln, and was an active member of the Nifty Fifties Ford Club. A recent passion was following his ancestry back to the American Revolution and membership in the SAR. Happiness was spending time with his New Jersey family and Seaside Park. He loved his role as “Uncle John”. Services to be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights on Friday March 22nd at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations sent to Hospice of the Western Reserve, or Rescue Village Animal Shelter, are preferred.
