July 4, 1925November 17, 2020

SHIRLEY JUNE THANOGLOUS (nee Whittman) age 95, passed away November 17, 2020. Beloved wife of Nicholas Sr.(deceased); dearest mother of Carol Jean Thailing and Nicholas Anthony Jr. (deceased). Devoted grandmother of Paul (Jo), Glen (Pam), Melody (Jake)and Natalie Riffle. Great grandmother of Sommer, Jacob, Molly, Vera, Lucy, Kai and Jax. Dear sister of Marcella Williamson (Bob)and John Hartell (Carol), (all deceased). Loving aunt of Russell, Brian, Bobby, Lisa, Keith, Carl and Jenny. Dear friend to WilliamRashid, Mary and Whitey Glasner and Betty and Steve Valvoda (all deceased). Bless the sweet heart of Shirley June. She was kind to everyone with a big pleasant smile for all of us. Her joys in life were simple; a good book, a word search page, bingo, cardgames and especially old movies from the 1940's. Born in Mayville, Wisconsin she and her family moved to Cleveland in 1927. She attended Brownell school until the ninth grade then left to work as a gas station attendant and at United Vacuum during the WWII.In the late 1950's and early 1960's she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Glen Wilson in Independence. Shirley then excelled at homemaking, (her mashed potatoes and potato salad are legendary), and caregiving to any and all of us who needed her. There never was, and there never will be a sweeter soul as Shirley June. We all were blessed by her. PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES. I remember all the times we watched Golden Girls and ate ice cream together. She will be missed. My thoughts go out to her family.

Shirley and her husband Nick were life long friends of my parents . They were so close that even though she wasn't a blood relative , she was always Aunt Shirley to me. I'm sure the old friends are together again laughing and catching up.
Rest in Peace, Aunt Shirley
Love, Cathy

My Aunt Shirley, was truly a wonderful person In and out! There are so many memories I have through out the years growing up One of my favorite memory is she introduced me to old classic movies! Every time I watch a black and white classic it makes me smile. She will forever be in my heart ❣⚘

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember her being the light in the eyes of the whole family. I know she'll be watching over all of you, but I can't help but think she's been your angel all along the way. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
