VALERIE JEAN SLATTERY left this world on June 25, 2022 to finally be reunited with the love of her life, Thomas Slattery. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 29, 1945, Valerie attended Mayfield High School. She was employed by East Ohio Gas Company and then Dominion Energy where she retired after many years of service. She enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruise vacations. She was always very social and enjoyed many retiree breakfasts where she found joy in planning the games to be played.
Valerie was preceded in death by her loving husband Tom, as well as her parents, Lovie and Mike Lellis. She leaves behind her sister, Loretta Slattery, as well as her brother-in-law (also Tom’s brother), Dennis Slattery of Saint Johns, Florida; her sister-in-law, Carole Newrones of Lyndhurst, Ohio; and nieces, Suzanne Forbes (Joe), Denise Gappy (Jon), Kathleen Newrones, Megan Newrones (Vincent), and Kevin Newrones (Shaun), along with grand-nieces and grand-nephews who she made certain knew that their Aunt Val loved them.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Judson Park for their wonderful care of Valerie. Their kindnesses will never be forgotten.
According to her wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Valerie will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery. She specifically asked for no flowers, but that if one desired, a donation could be made in her memory to a favorite charity, or to either of her two favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
