Arturo Gonzalez

Arturo Gonzalez, 94, of Mesquite, TX, passed away January 28, 2026.

Arturo was born on September 21, 1931, in the small town of La Reforma, Texas to Benito and Santos S. Gonzalez. Arturo was married to Amparo Garza on February 16, 1958; they were married 61 years. He was the third eldest of 10 children.

Arturo, worked as a barber, a US Postal mail carrier and an insurance salesman. He also co-owned & co-managed two dry cleaners with his wife, Amparo. As a barber, he owned and operated his own barber shop. Eventually going through five and locating them throughout the DFW metroplex.

Arturo is preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Santos S. Gonzalez, his wife, Amparo, his brothers, Ignacio, an infant, Guillermo Gonzalez (Leonor), Arnulfo Gonzalez (Aurora), his sisters Hortencia Gonzalez, Ofilia G Santiago (Tiburcio), Olga G Vasquez, Ofelia G. Peraza (Javier).

Arturo is survived by his daughter Sylvia Ordonez and her husband Raul, son Arturo Gonzalez Jr. and his wife Silvia, his son Alberto Gonzalez and his wife Denise, his daughter Diana Gonzales and her husband Jorge. He is also survived by his sister Teresa Ponce and his brother Jose Gonzalez and wife Gladis. He had 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and also great, great nieces and nephews.

Arturo was a proud patriot serving in the U.S Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 at Camp Pendleton, California during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he attended barber college in San Antonio, Texas. A chance encounter and a romantic courtship led him to marry Amparo, his beautiful “hon”, as he liked to call her.

His favorite pastimes were reading, enjoying a good meal, visiting with family, enjoying a great movie and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He loved a good joke and a puzzling riddle.

VISITATION AND FUNERAL

Visitation hours will be held at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Parkway in Mesquite TX, 75149 on Thursday February 19, 2026 from 4 to 8 pm.

Celebration of Life will be held also at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 1:00pm

Burial will follow the service at Laurel Oaks Cemetery,12649 Lake June Rd. Balch Springs, TX 75180.
