Barbara had been my principal at Rivera Jr. High for many years and took me to Sunset Sr. her first year there when she became principal. Barbara was an amazing educator and friend who enriched my life. I still laugh about the crazy things we did at Rivera Jr. —before she had to grow up just a little at Sunset Sr. —  playing hilarious tricks and holding ‘fun-time’ events at Riviera. I still laugh thinking of the time several of us covered her entire Riviera office with aluminum foil, wrapping each item individually, making it definitely Silver!  R. I. P. 💜

Barbara was a great lady with a salty sense of humor that she loved to share . I worked for her when she was an a.p.  at Killian and at Sunset and when she was principal at Sunset. She drew energy from her students and always appreciated the good faculty members she had. I will miss her friendship and birthday cards!

 

I worked with Barbara when she was the Principal of Sunset High School and I was the PTSA president. She was a kind person with a delightful sense of humor and always had a smile on her face . 

Barbara was the Principal at Sunset High School when I was a student. She was always full of energy and positive encouragement for the students. She listened and engaged in a way that was both comfortable and reassuring. Later I worked at Sunset and found her to be a great colleague as well as a friend. I have great memories of her and she will be missed. 

Barbara Silver spent her lifetime educating students of all ages.  Those who were fortunate to have her as a teacher, administrator, or mentor will always remember her dedication and professionalism, as well as her, not always subtle, sense of humor.  As the principal at Miami Sunset Senior High School, she always had the students, teachers,  and staff's welfare foremost in her mind.  Her tenure brought many honors to Sunset as it continued to be among premier public school in Miami-Dade County.  We will not forget her contributions to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
