Carol Getz

The family of Carol Getz (nee Washer) is sad to inform Carol passed away the evening of Friday, November 12, 2021. A vibrant woman, with the energy of a person half her age, she was loved and adored by her family and friends. Active in her community, she was a lifelong member of Hadassah. Also, she was known to frequent the arts, going to the ballet and other dance events, belonged to many art museums, and frequented the theater. So passionate about the arts, she, herself once an art dealer, owned a gallery in Miami, and was a museum docent as well as a speech therapist. She believed in giving back and volunteered to teach deaf children how to dance to music through various vibration techniques. She was an open-minded person who was able to move with the constant change of the times. She was a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in education, majoring in drama, and believed in continuing education and life-long learning, which she participated through FIU and Hunter College. While lived the latter part of her life in New York City to be closer to her children and the arts she so loved, Carol lived the majority of her life in Miami, up until the passing of her husband Morton “Buddy” Getz in 2012. She is survived by her beloved family son Jacob, daughter Deborah, granddaughter Sofia, son-in-law Julian, daughter-in-law Michaela, and brother Jay. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th Street Miami, FL 33132, 305-592-0690 on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:30am. Prior to her passing, Carol asked friends, family and others who knew give to her favorite charities rather than flowers for her funeral.
