David Hughes was born and raised in South Florida and lived here all his life. David graduated from Edison High School in 1958 and was on the football team. He was a “bread man” for many years and eventually retired from his executive position for Entenmann’s.

David was a people person and had lifelong friends who he loved dearly. An avid Dolphin fan and an armchair coach who always had advice on how to win the game as he thought he could do it better! David had a love for plants and puttering in his yard. He was a great story teller and had many tales to tell! Most of all David Hughes was a family man who loved his family and was a father figure to all.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Glenda. His daughter Leslie and son Daniel. Grandchildren Aaron, Alyssa, Dylan and Owen. Great grandchildren Gavin, Jacob and Leila. We love you and you will be missed every day.

Even though I did not know the family David and I shared an interest that was developed when he and I (while at Purity Bakery) introduced the Entenmanns line to the Bahamas in the 1980's.
I can recall that a visit to Barbara Thompson (nee Entenmann) who lived in the Bahamas was a must on every trip.

Goodbye my friend - Rest in Peace.

My friend. My golfing buddy. You were the best friend a person could have. Always positive and supportive and always there if you were needed. The memories of our Vegas golf trips were the best. We will miss you.

I loved my Uncle David.
He was a constant man in my life.
I was flower girl at the wedding of my Aunt Cissy and Uncle David when I was 7 years old. I remember how thrilled I was to be bestowed this honor, and I loved my dress.
My own father passed away when I was 14. I spent a lot of time at my Aunt and Uncle's house. I treasure the memories of being there, surrounded by my family.
Over the years, I watched Uncle David with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and it always touched me to see how much he loved them.
Uncle David was a man whose family was everything.
I remember the time he took us all, myself and my daughter included
on a beautiful trip. We all went
to Las Vegas. What a time we had.
I will always laugh when I think about your off the cuff, no filter comments.
They are funny now.
I will miss, your barbecues and your love.
Rest in peace Uncle David.
Lisa
