Through Dee we found a forever friend in Choly.  Thank you for letting us take her home.  May you rest in peace and know that you made a difference and that's all that matters.

My daughter Jillian volunteered for Dee when she was in high school, back in 2003, in the early days of Friends Forever Rescue. Jillian came home with our Lily who is now almost 13.5. She was about four months old when Jillian and the volunteer kids found her running along 136th Street. That day Jillian went with Dee to take Lily and another little dog Peanut to the vet to get checked. And...long story short, Lily came home with Jillian. Lily morphed from our wild child to grande dame. I am so glad she has been in our lives. I loved seeing the work that was carried on over the years at Petsmart, with new teen volunteers and newly rescued dogs when I shopped at Petsmart, and always tried to give a little each time, and a bigger gift at the end of the year to this very worthy local cause. Beautiful Dee was surely an respected and driving force in the area of dog rescue here in Miami-Dade, and we thank her for all that she has done! <3

Dee was truly one of the good ones. I had the pleasure of being around Dee and her babies at Pet Smart many times. May her family be embraced by all the love she shared with us all. May she rest in peace. My condolences to all those left behind. Dee will be missed by many.

Dee was an amazing, caring and kind woman. She had an incredible business sense and was a wonderful person. We worked together for many years at Ace and Nail Advantage. Dee will never be forgotten.

I loved Dee and looked up to her so much.  I was always in awe of her energy and persistence to make sure dogs were cared and loved for at all cost.  I worked with Dee many times at PetSmart for the 7 years I managed there.  I'm sad to know your gone Dee, but I will never forget the angel you were here on earth.  Thank you so much for Marshmellow and Bailey... May God hold you with his finest, and with a smile I say: See you soon kiddo!  Just as you'd always say to me!

Regret to learn of Dee's passing; my wife and I will always be in gratitude to her for blessing us with the most amazing and loving dog we adopted from Friends Forever. "A righteous person has regard for the life of his animal" Proverbs 12:10

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Dee.  Her dedication to helping find forever homes was such a blessing for so many.  Such a huge loss for the rescue community.  Two of my dogs Marley Blue (2005-2014) and Maxx (adopted 2015) both from Friends Forever.  My heartfelt condolences to Dee's family.

We are SO SORRY to hear of Dee's passing. Through the efforts of Dee we have the most wonderful family member we could ever ask for. Nigel was s sick puppy and Dee personally saw to it he was nursed back to health and remains a happy and healthy dog today. We worked closely with Dee for many years donating food and goods to FF. She was an angel on earth and is now an angel in heaven. I know her legacy will remain and others will continue her work. PLEASE DO!
The world is never going to be the same without her. My most sincere condolences go out to her family and a hug to her fur babies that will miss her so very much.

I am at a loss for words after learning of Dee's passing. We have known Dee for 20 years. At that time my 10 year old daughter was always with her and taught my daughter the love for animals. She was my daughter's mentor and the best human being i was bless to know. We always laughed together but also cried together. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Have peace in knowing such a beautiful soul as Dee, is already in Heaven with ALL her 4 legged friends. As she would have wanted. I will always love you my sweet friend. Until we meet again!!

I am so sad to hear of Dee's passing. She was a real mensch with a kind heart, a wonderful soul and a deep compassion for the most vulnerable amongst us. Her strength and commitment to our animals was extraordinary. I admired her tremendously and will miss her. My condolences to her family and all who loved her.

I was saddened to read about Dorothy's passing.  We were classmates at Kinloch Park Jr. High and at Miami High.  I saw her only a few times after that, but I knew about the wonderful work she was doing saving animals and finding homes for them.  Her life was really worthwhile.

Dee was a dog's best friend. I wrote about her many times in the Miami Herald and always admired her dedication to and love for the animals who came her way. This is a huge loss to the humane community in South Florida and to homeless animals, and I hope others carry on her selfless work.

I worked for Dee at Nail Advantage in 1993 as the delivery driver for her company.  She was generous and understanding.  I started my company while working for her at Nail Advantage.  She was so supportive of my new idea and actually encouraged me to start my own business.  She is without doubt one of the most important persons I was lucky enough to cross paths with. I will always remember Dee Chess.

I was horribly saddened to hear of the passing of our beautiful Dee. Rest in Peace you darling woman. Prayers to the family and the animals she dedicated her life to.

I am so sad to hear that Dee has passed. Dee was a great friend and a special person. I remembered the day she brought a gangly puppy named Frankie to my house. Dee may you rest in peace.

Rest in peace, dear Dee, after all the work you have done to save so many canine lives. You rescued healthy, sick, disabled dogs and found them forever homes.  You were a great and caring friend and helped all who needed help and counsel. We will miss you and remember you fondly as an heroic and super person.

My heart sank today when I read in the paper that dear Dee Chess had died. I am sad for her family and despondent for the animals that will now not be saved. In January 2006 I adopted the most wonderful dog that she had rescued. He had been horribly abused. I have never loved a dog more. Turning that terrified baby into a fearless confident deliriously happy dog was the most fulfilling thing I have ever done in my life and I am forever grateful to Dee for giving me that opportunity.
