I learned about Dr. Blcher’s passing earlier this year and it devastated me. I had no words but knew I had to write something here at some point. I worked as a scribe for him for only a few months, and I sobbed about his passing, and found myself remembering that he’s gone today and weeping again - I share this to demonstrate what a special and impactful person he was, that even just a scribe working alongside him for a few months would feel his loss so sharply. It’s all been expressed by those whose lives he touched - he was so caring, engaging, funny, and beyond a gifted professional he had the true gift of humanity. He was a consummate human being above all else. I can’t imagine how those close to him must feel this loss. We are all honored to have known him in any capacity. My condolences to his loved ones - he spoke about you all the time and the love was palpable. I know it still is.

I was saddened to see if Larry’s passing in the Bowdoin Alumni magazine. Larry and I were classmates, and fraternity brothers at Alpha Rho Upsilon. We shared many classes. I recall as a thoughtful caring person. We was quiet, but a good friend with a sense of humor. He organized trips to the State Hospital at the Pineland, where we interacted with disabled children housed in dreadful conditions.

Clearly Larry went on to a career of caring and service. My condolences and best wishes to family and friends.

I had only found out about his passing away today.  I and my mother knew Dr. Blacher for thirty or more years through work and as my grandmothers physician.  I cant think of a more gracious or giving human being.  His patients loved him and as a nurse enjoined knowing and respecting him.  Thoughts and prayers for his family.  

Dr.Blacher was a friend a mentor more like family I worked with him for many years he taught me so much I am still in disbelief that he is no longer with us. Everyone in my family was his patient because we had so much trust in him even my son who is now 34 years old was his patient and Dr.Blacher held him in his arms when he was 8 weeks old. Dr Blacher told me he was sick in January he expressed how much he missed his patients and told me he would be back to work in March. That was the type of man and doctor he was always thinking of his patients his empathy was beyond words he will always be in our hearts and  we will miss him so much.

I am deeply saddened to the passing of Dr. Blacher.  I am a Physician 
Intensivist that worked at Baptist Hospital and many times we worked together on several cases , Larry was a fantastic Physician and knowledgeable and deeply caring and compassionate and had a great sense of what it means to be a Physician.  His humor was always soft but together would laugh and smile.  He would often be known to hold a patient hand, and that sense of touch gave a great relief to the patient that somebody cares and would help them recover.  For all of this community this is a great loss, and our hearts must go to comfort his immediate family and wife and brother.  We were all blessed to have know such a caring human being and a great Physician. God bless him and his family and all who have known him.

I just found out.  What can I say that most of you have not already expressed?  I was his patient for over 30 years and yes he was my friend.  My wife would ask me what did the doctor say and I would say oh we talked about the Miami Heat, tennis...

In our later years I would constantly remind him that he couldn't retired.  Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to Dr Blacher's family. I am heartbroken to hear of his passing. He was special to me and to my wife. We looked forward to seeing him. Looking forward to see a Dr? Yes. We loved talking to him, he listened to us. We not only spoke about our health but we also spoke about family and  friends and business. He was always talking about his Cuban wife. He was always so calm and kind we always felt as we were the last patients of the day. We were so worried about his health and now we are so saddened. All the memories shared here are a testament to the amazing man and Dr he was.

I am so heartbroken to learn that dear Dr. Blacher has died. He was such a kind and caring man and an excellent doctor. He not only cared about the workings of my heart, but he cared about my mind. He knew that I had a stressful situation with my son who has autism. He was kind and empathetic. I truly admired the way he practiced medicine. He once said, “I could give you medication, but I believe if you lost 10 pounds it would help you.” Between that visit and the next, I lost 10 pounds! He said, “I’m proud of you!” He said it with enthusiasm and genuine caring. I feel a profound loss.

I had a heart attack at 59 years old.  Within a year or so I was fortunate to find my way to Dr. Blacher. I am now 88 years old and my visits to Dr. Blacher were always a pleasant time with a caring, special doctor. I was blessed to find him and I will always be thankful for almost thirty years of his compassionate care.

We are so saddened with the passing of Dr. Blacher.  Dr. Blacher was an angel in disguise. He was very kind, caring, humble, intelligent, diligent, and selfless. For us, it is a big loss. He has been my cardiologist for 38 years. He saved my life many times. He took care of my mother and my three sisters. I was always asking Dr. Blacher not to retire on me and he always said not to worry, he is not going anywhere.  But, I guess God wants one more angel in heaven.  We are heartbroken.  Very sad and heart broken to hear the sad news. He was my cardiologist for over 25 years. We always talked tennis for a few minutes before he started his care with me. I will truly miss him and my heartfelt condolences to his wife and family.  May his soul rest in peace.

I am saddened to hear Dr. Blacher has passed.
Dr  Blacher was my heart Dr. He was so friendly, yet serious,and was detailed in information regarding my health. Come to find out he did his Residency in the Albert Einstein hospital where both my sons were born.  My first son  was born when Dr Blacher was actually at that hospital. 
We briefly would talk about NY every time I went for my yearly exam. I felt so comfortable with him as a patient.

I just received notice of Dr Blacher’s passing. The news was heartbreaking.  He was my doctor for over 20 years and I have held off in looking for a new one, with the of hope of his return. I loved Dr Blacher as a doctor and as a human. The care and attention that he provided was the best. I will miss our chats about our families and travels (as the scribe would patiently stand by😀) You will be greatly missed. Thank you for all the years of exemplary care.

Our family just stumble to this sad news. Words are not sufficient to describe Dr. Lawrence as a physician and as human being! He was the first and only Cardiologist doctor my mother has had since 2005 after he saved her life. And even though my mother didn’t speak any English, she never wanted to change doctors because of his great compassion, knowledge, and care. Always calm, compassionate, respectful. He was never in a rush, he will go all over again a take my mom’s vital signs and blood pressure; this we will never forget. Rest in peace, Heaven gain another Angel💖💖💖

Dr Blacher was the first doctor I went to for a physical many years ago. (Like 30+) My sister Marti, served with him at Baptist Hospital when she got her nursing degree.  He was my parents physician at the end of their lives.  He got to know me well and did my physicals and tests in a way that made sense for me.  I last saw him in November and he was struggling with long covid.
A really really special person I will miss. I’m praying for him in Heaven and his family here.

My heart hurts. Its not often you meet a Dr that you really love. But my encounters with this Dr was different. He was caring and compassionate and really interested in what you had to say. He spoke  fondly of his family always & of his love for the Patriots.

Dr Blacher had great healing hands. He was knowledgeable of his specialty but most he was an awesome human being. We had great conversations of all topics, even personal ones every 6 months I saw him since 2002.  I’m so grateful to have known him.

So sad to see that Dr. Blacher has passed away so suddenly. We were going to write him a card when we heard he was on medical leave from his office to thank him for literally saving my husband’s life last month. As one of his last patient’s to see him in mid December, Dr. Blacher read a cat scan result ordered by a different type of specialist that was missed and not seen. If he hadn’t told my husband about what was in that report, and recommended a specialist( who he  later saw),  it would have been too late to do anything. So my husband literally owes his life to Dr. Blacher. He has always been the most kind and caring doctor that we have ever known. And gone too soon…..❤️

Dr. Blacher has been my cardiologist since 2006 and always kind and caring. He spent time listening to what I had to say, not to mention what a great physician he was. I will miss our conversations and sharing of life’s shared journey. We lost family members at the same time. He always entered the room with “How’s my favorite fibber”. I consider him a friend and I sorely miss him.

Dr Blacher played an instrumental role in my husband Peter’s life. More than 10 years ago, he thought something was not right and sent my husband for an angioplasty- where they discovered a 90% blockage. He received a much needed quadruple bypass surgery.  Since then Dr Blacher provided Peter with excellent care. Our hearts are broken and we send Dr Blacher’s family our deepest condolences. We will miss him. 

My heart is broken when I (former patient) of Dr Blacher received a letter from Baptist announcing my favorite doctor passed away. He’s a caring and compassionate professional. He takes his time to examine his patients and never was in a hurry. His memories will remain in my heart forever!
