Elaine Berman, 88, passed away on Jan 1, 2019. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and dear friend. To some, she will always be Mrs. Rackoff, 4th grade Sunday school teacher at Temple Israel, head counselor at Camp Coleman, Lorber lady, founder of Kaleidoscope and Serendipity chapters of National Jewish Hospital, founder of Jafco chapter in Century Village, or the woman who introduced you to your spouse (or tried hard to fix you up!). She worked diligently to help others and bring people together.
Her husband of 25 years, Marvin Berman, passed away on December 27th. Together, they started a second chapter, loved their kids and grandkids, and were involved in their temple andcommunity. Elaine is survived by her son, Wayne Rackoff (Betsy) and daughter, Patti Sinkoe; step children David Berman (Cherie), Joel Berman (Tina), Haya Berman Hakim (Jeffrey); grandchildren Aaron, Max (Laura), Andrew, Adam, Douglas (Morgan), Lucy (Drew), David (Daria), Noel (Grant), and Nathaniel; great grandchildren Eliza, Susanna, and Caitlin. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Alan Rackoff and husband, Anshel Rackoff.
A funeral service will occur at 2:00 PM at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo (Kendall), 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143 with burial to follow in the cemetery. . A reception will occur Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 2:45 PM to 4:30 PM at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo (Kendall), 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143.
