Pinecrest, Florida – DR. ELEANOR (ELLIE) LEVINE, 90, passed away Sept. 9, 2021. Ellie was born May 22, 1931, in New York, New York, to Mona and Arthur Lieberman. She moved with her parents to Naugatuck, Connecticut where she attended elementary school. Ellie and her parents ultimately moved to Miami, Florida where she attended Miami High and met her love, Gil LeVine who went to Beach High. They both attended The University of Miami where Ellie graduated in May, 1952 with a Bachelor of Education. She and Gil married on June 22, 1952, and had two children, Jerry and Randy, both born December 10th, but three years apart. Ellie taught elementary school and went back to The University of Miami and earned her Master’s Degree from the School of Education in 1969. In 1973, sponsored by the Florida State Department of Education and Dade County Public Schools in Miami, she received a Federal Grant to write the (PPP) Prescriptive Profile Procedure for Children with Learning Disabilities, at the time she was a Specialist in Learning Disabilities with the Dade County Public Schools. In 1978, Eleanor earned her Doctorate in Public Administration from Nova University. She was the founder and first director of Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS). With her compassion for education, after Ellie retired from FDLRS and Dade County Public Schools, she became a professor at The U of M and F.I.U. mentoring PHD Students in Special Education. She was an avid sports fan and a Miami Hurricane through and through rarely missing a Football, Baseball, or Basketball home game. She loved to travel with husband of 69 years, Gil and above all loved her family and friends.
Ellie is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Jerry (Linda), Randy (Anne), Grandchildren ... Shane (Anastasia), Heather, Zac (Sara), and Genevieve, Merlin - Great Grandsons, Griffin and Philip, and sister-in-law Renee (wife of Yale) and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor is predeceased by parents Arthur (Mona) – Brothers-In-Law ... David (Jacqueline), Howard (Delores) and Yale.

Due to Covid precautions, the private funeral was held on September 12, 2021, at Riverside Gordon - Mt. Nebo - Kendall.
