Franklin Kromsky

Franklin N. Kromsky, born April 16, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away at approximately 11:00pm in the evening of Tuesday. April 21, 2026 at the age of 95. Frank passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Aventura, Florida, with his children by his side.

He was raised in New York City, spending his early years in Brooklyn and frequently visiting his cousins in Philadelphia. Franklin was the eldest son of Max and Tillie Kromsky (nee Epstein). Frank was named after his own grandfather who passed away at a young age, ultimately bearing the same Hebrew Name. After his Father Max also passed at a young age, Frank helped his mother to raise his baby brother Philip, forming close family bonds that remained important throughout his life.

Frank became a Bar Mitzvah in 1944. He attended Boys High School (c/o 1949) in Brooklyn NY and went on to study at Brooklyn College & CCNY (City College of New York). During his third year, Frank was drafted & proudly served in the United States Army after completion of OCS Training at Fort Dix and serving during the Korean War (approximately 1953 to 1955) prior to an Honorable Discharge in 1960, an experience that shaped his sense of discipline and commitment. Just a few days prior to passing, the US Army honored him with a final sendoff, pinning, and statement calling for his completion of his tour of duty.

Following his military service, Franklin built a career as an entrepreneur and businessman, owning businesses including C+F Gift Shop, Frank’s Men’s Wear, Kings North East Jewels, Frank’s Watch Repair, and his all time favorite – booth vendor at various flea market/swap shops. He was known for his energy, enthusiasm, hard bargaining skills, witty jokes, endless advice, positivity, and driving miles to find any and every yard sale deal.

Frank married Carole Rhoda Segall on March 23, 1958 at Temple Beth El in Montreal, Canada. Together, they built a life rooted in North Miami Beach, Florida, but spent a lot of their time as reverse “snow-birds” maintaining a home in Ste-Adolphe-de-Howard, Quebec Canada and spending winters as well as summers there. Their very short courtship began in August of 1957 after meeting on the tennis courts in the Catskill mountains, leading to a lifelong partnership of 64 years together. Carole passed away in 2021. He will be laid to rest at her side. We pray that they may now be reunited for all eternity.

He is survived by his brother Phillip (Gail) Kromsky. His Daughters Debra (Joseph) Stasio & Marci Kromsky, and his Son Mitchell (Julie) Kromsky. His grandchildren Ryan Kromsky, Justin (Shayna) Stasio, Jaryd (Rachel) Kromsky, Melynda (Jackson) Hull, & Aaron Stasio. His great-grandchild Nathaniel Kromsky, & more g-g-babies on the way.

Frankie will be remembered for his sense of humor, always being ready with index cards full of jokes, amazing memory for every joke, as well as his love for travel, gambling, and family visits. He was a keen tennis player - often matching against some of the biggest professional names in the sport; he continued playing late into his 80’s. Family was absolutely everything to him and his legacy lives on through his family, as well as the many social connections he made along the way. Frank’s contagious enthusiasm and laughter had an impact on everyone he met.

Funeral services for dad will be held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens - 10301 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33172 - on Tuesday, April 28th at 11:30AM. Shiva will follow at the Vi of Aventura, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7-9PM - 19333 W Country Club Dr, Aventura, FL 33180 - with minion at 8PM.

ps. If you noticed the N. for his middle name - please note Franklin did not have a middle name but was extremely proud of a clerical error made on his birth certificate stating “NO/NA.”, abbreviation for “No Name” in the space for a middle initial/name. He often joked that his legal name was in-fact Franklin Noname Kromsky. (cue Laughter)
