Mrs Edelman made such an impact on my life. I went to Gertrude Edelman Elementary school from 3rd grade to 6th grade. What's unbelievable is that so many years later when I was walking across the stage at my High school graduation she remembered me. She shook my hands and said "I see you made it". Phenomenal woman!!! We love you Mrs Gertude Edelman

RIP to a wonderful lady, Gertrude Edelman. My four children attended Sabal Palm Elementary School in the late seventies. I volunteered at the school. I remember Mrs Edelman as a very sweet lady who loved children. I lost touch with her when my children moved to junior high but I have thought of her many times over the years. I have also told many people about her wonderful ways.

I didn’t attend GKE/Sabal Palm however my 3 younger siblings did. I met her twice while picking up my siblings and she was the sweetest and most kind hearted person at that school. She was loved by the students and parents. May God allow her to Rest In Peace.

Mrs. Edelman was only my principal for one year, as I moved around a lot when I was young. Of the many principals I had over the years, she is the only one I remember from my year at Sabal Palm Elementary. She was always kind and had a heartfelt smile. She made a great impact on thousands of young minds. We were very lucky to have known and been influenced by such a giving and wonderful woman. Thanks to her family for sharing her with so many of us for so many years. May she rest in peace.

I can remember her in her office as a Kindergartener or 1st grader back in the 90s. She always loved children is the vague memory I recall of her. It’s crazy that I thought about her just earlier this week. I was listening to some old tunes from the 90s and a wave of nostalgia hit me and brought me back to that very office she was at prior to her leaving Sabal Palm and renamed Gertrude K Edelman Sabal Palm. RIP 🙏🏿

Mrs. Edelman was my principal from 1987-1990. I remember the late-summer hot day I was hired. We sat in her office as she smoked a cigarette, she exclaimed with a big smile, "I just hired Don Schula's daughter!" Trying to be polite and not show my disappointment, I said with my Wisconsin accent, "That's nice. Who's Don Schula?" She crushed out her cigarette and said, "I like you, Pam Bartee, let me show you around."
I admired her authority, her leadership, her love for the children, and her smart, classy wardrobe.
RIP, Mrs. Edelman.
