

Katz, Irwin Robert, 72, loving husband, father, and grandfather, died May 3 in Chania, Greece while traveling. Irwin grew up in Miami and graduated from North Miami High and the University of Miami, of which he was a lifelong fan.
Irwin was the founding partner of the accounting firm, Katz, Rivera and Company, and was a member of AICPA. He was devoted to serving his community in numerous capacities. He served on the Board of Directors of Temple Beth Am and held the position of Treasurer for three years, receiving the Harry Gunther Award for his service to Beth Am. He was the President of the Dadeland Walk Homeowners Association for two years and taught courses on the accounting aspects of Divorce Mediation. Irwin loved to travel, spend time with his grandchildren, and collect antique trains and barbershop memorabilia. He was a giving soul with an incredible sense of humor who will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Irwin’s parents, Louis and Paula Katz, and his sister, Stella Clein, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Dr. Laura Weissbart (Brian) and Paige Katz; stepson Adam Moss; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Tucker.
Funeral services and burial will be held at Mt. Nebo, Kendall, at 2 PM on Sunday, May 10. The family will be observing Shiva at Temple Beth Am, 5950 N. Kendall Drive, immediately following the burial, with a concluding service at 6 PM at Beth Am.
