Born on July 16, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Morris and Claire Carter.
She attended Adelphi College in NY, University of Miami in FL, and then took night classes at Baruch College in NY to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
Pursuing her love of music and show business, she worked in New York City for General Artists Corporation, the largest theatrical agency in the world at that time, where she enjoyed close contact with many stars of stage and screen.
She was the co-owner and manager of two apartment complexes in Miami Beach, FL and then the co-owner of Ultra Power Corp., a petroleum distributor in Monticello, NY.
She married the love of her life, Michael S. Hochman, after a blind date meeting, knowing him for only 3 weeks.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Michael S. Hochman of Jupiter, FL and Liberty, NY; her beloved daughter Karen Joy Donofrio and husband Jeffrey Donofrio and her precious granddaughter Mia Brooklyn Donofrio of Jupiter, FL; her sister-in-law Sheri Carter and nephew Craig Carter of Bal Harbour, FL.
Joan’s love of people and love for life will forever be remembered and cherished. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 10301 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33172.
