Joseph Blonsky of Miami, Florida passed away on September 19, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 8, 1931, the oldest son of David and Rachel (Cooper) Blonsky, Joe graduated from Alfred University in 1952 and Yale University Law School in 1955. After serving in the United States Army, Joe practiced real estate law in New York until 1973, when he moved to Miami and continued to practice into his 80s.
As a youth, Joe was an Eagle Scout and he was an accomplished piano player and talented singer. He was devoted throughout his life to Jewish, environmental and civil rights causes.
Joe is survived by Hope (Abrams), his beloved wife of 69 years whom he met at Alfred and married while at Yale, his sons Adam (Lorena) and Daniel (Shona), his grandchildren Heather, Michael (Kira), Aaron, Rex and Natana, and his great grandson Levi, for all of whom he was a great source of wisdom and comfort.
A funeral service for Joseph will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo (Kendall), 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143.
