

A Time to Be Born: Martha Eunice Henderson (Dukes) On July 24, 1948 a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born to the late Robert and Rosa Dukes in Griffin, Georgia. She was the fourth born of eleven children to this union.
Her Early Life: The family moved from Griffin, Georgia and settled in the Princeton-Naranja area where Martha lived during her formative years with her parents and siblings.
A Time to Learn: Martha attended elementary, junior high, and senior high (Mays) in the Princeton-Naranja, and Goulds area. At the age of 35, Martha would return to school and attended Miami Jackson School of Nursing where she would graduate at the top of her class and receive her license as a Registered Nurse.
A Time to Work: Martha was always a hard worker. Martha was a provider for her husband, children, family, and friends. Martha always had a caring heart and devotion to helping others. Martha worked for CHI, Dade County Public Schools, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Private Duty Nursing for over 40 years.
A Time to Love: She met and married her soul mate Lee Holsey Henderson on December 21, 1987. They shared a devoted and loving marriage until his passing in 2019.
Martha accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and later joined the Church of Christ Written in Heaven under the leadership of Bishop Michael Lattimore.
A Time to Depart: On September 11th 2024 at approximately 8:14 pm in accordance with God’s will the death angels summoned Martha and she heard the call. She was called to come rest from all her labor.
Martha is preceded in death by her late husband Lee Holsey Henderson, Robert and Rosa Dukes, Siblings Johnny Calvin, Shirley Ann, Mary, and John Robert.
Martha leaves to mourn and cherish her loving five sons Robert Moon, Henry J Davis (Neuron), Akintunde O. Davis, Rahkmaan S. Harris, and Haile D Henderson.
Six of ten siblings are still with us: Richard, Ann, Charlotte, Geneva, Alice, and Vincent.
Martha also leaves to mourn nine grandchildren: Ashley, Cody, Jasmin, Jayda, Henry II, Rocky, Faith, Haila, and Haile. Then three great grandchildren Tamaya, Talea, and Jaden.
Son’s Devotional to their Loving Mother: “Mother’s never really die, they just keep the house up in the sky, they polish the sun by day and light the stars that shine at night. Keep the moon beams silvery bright and in the heavenly home above, they wait to welcome those they love.”
A funeral service for Martha will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo (Kendall), 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143. A committal service will occur Monday, September 30, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, FL 33449.
