

A long time resident of Miami Beach, Miriam Siegel passed away June 2.
Miriam was born February 15, 1916 at Kingston, NY to Ralph and Mathilda Mann.
She graduated New York University in 1937 with majors in speech and drama. Following graduation
Miriam taught preschool in Kingston.
In 1940 she met the love of her life, Harry Siegel. They married in November 1941 and lived for a time in
Washington, DC. September 1943 blessed the couple with the arrival of a baby boy and in 1944 Harry
was offered a job in Miami Beach. The couple soon set up housekeeping on Espanola Way. Their
daughter came along in May 1947. For much of her life Miriam worked together with Harry in the men’s
fashion industry. During their working years they owned and operated three stores on Lincoln Road,
Stephen’s Menswear, later the Tie Box and finally Steckler’s Menswear. Following retirement they sold
their home on Hibiscus Island and moved to Belle Plaza.
A long-time member of Temple Emmanuel, Miriam was a Past-President of the Miami Beach Chapter of
the National Council of Jewish Women and was a life member of Hadassah. Miriam was also an avid
bridge player.
Survivors include her son Barry, daughter Margot (Joseph), grandson Robert, many dear cousins,
extended family and devoted friends.
The family suggests donations to Hadassah in lieu of flowers.
