GROSS, RENEE, of Coral Gables, Florida, passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 99. Born in the Bronx, New York, in 1927, Renee lived a long and extraordinary life defined by strength, determination, adventure, and a profound devotion to her family.
Renee was predeceased by Howard Gross, the love of her life for 62 years. Together, in 1975, Renee and Howard moved from New Rochelle and founded Sunshine Answering Service in Coral Gables. They built a beautiful life filled with family, friendship, and travel. They journeyed around the world together, and after Howard’s passing, Renee’s spirit carried her onward as she continued exploring the world.
Renee loved going to the ballet, theater, and the movies, and particularly enjoyed films shown at the Jewish Film Festival. Her greatest joy was spending time with her cherished family, especially during summers in the Berkshires. She is survived by her children, Pat Kalik; Andrew and Leslee Gross; and Peter and Nancy Gross; her cherished grandchildren, Lisa Kalik and Jeff Blath, Daniel Kalik, Sarah Dale, David Gross, Jessica Gross and Jeremy Kreines, Kylie Gross and Ryan Werntz, Zack Gross, Josh Gross and Debra Cespedes, Danielle Gross, and Emily Gross and Cyrus Owens; and nine beloved great-grandchildren, Ellen, Howie, Abe, Vivi, Noa, Zoe, Charlotte, Mia, and Ezra.
Renee was a force—strong, resilient, independent, and remarkably tough. She faced life on her own terms and left an unforgettable impression on everyone who knew her. Her strength and spirit will live on through the generations of the family she loved so deeply. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
