He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
At the age of 3, Richard moved to Miami with his parents, Al & Faye Rosenthal and brother Mike (deceased). Richard played football for Miami High and graduated in 1957. He attended college in Georgia but after getting an “A” on a paper he wrote on Life Insurance, he left school and began his career in the life insurance industry. He had trouble finding a job in the field at the age of 19, but then one day a manager at Provident Mutaul gave him a chance, and that was all he needed to get his 60+ year carrier going.
He later took a job with Occidental Life in 1965, and when Occidental was bought by Transamerica, Richard was the first person at Transamerica to be named as a Branch/Brokerage Manager. Richard was a 60+ year member and longtime supporter of his professional association NAIFA.
Richard founded Rosenthal and Associates in 1986, and then The Rosenthal Agency in 1996. In 1999, his son Robert joined the agency and worked alongside his father, and together they made The Rosenthal Agency a successful and well-respected life insurance agency in Miami.
Richard was also instrumental in guiding and supporting his daughter Beth in the opening of her school, Kids For Kids Academy in 2005, and was her business advisor for 20 years. Richard found great joy in guiding both his children, Robert & Beth, in businesses they loved.
Thirty years ago Richard met the love of his life, Marcia Maslowe, who survives him. After a lifetime in Miami, in 2021, Richard and Marcia retired and moved to Port St. Lucie to enjoy the rest of their lives together.
In his spare time, Richard loved playing poker and watching football. He was a huge Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes Fan and never missed a game.
Richard is survived by children Robert Rosenthal (Maria Del Mar), Beth Rosenthal Davis (Julia Ryan), stepdaughter Amy Michelle Rosenthal, grandchildren Samantha & Kyle Rosenthal, Rebekah & Benjamin Davis.
He also leaves behind, Aymara Golan who was like a sister, a longtime friend, and his office manager for over 50 years. He is also survived by Reva Krasnow Ceader, Richard’s first wife, who remained his longtime friend for more than 65 years.
Richard will be remembered for his kindness to others and his willingness to help those in need, as well as his contributions to the field of insurance. He was a loving partner, parent and grandparent. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
