Rita always had a smile, and warm words. She and my mom Joan had many wonderful adventures together. When mom broke her foot 2 years ago, Rita visited her twice a day to cheer her up . She was a good friend, a passionate artist, and dedicated to helping others. She will be greatly missed.

Rita was a lovely, kind and generous soul. I'm fortunate our paths crossed even if only briefly.

Rita's support of the arts is evident in her annual sponsorship support for the Arts Council of Henderson County's largest multi-media visual art exhibition, Bring Us Your Best. Her generous sponsorship provided support in the form of prize money for award winning artists. We are grateful to have had Rita's support, in honor of Lynne and Ira Wax's memory, and even more thankful to have gotten to know Rita just a little bit. She truly was a kind and beautiful person, inside and out. I will always remember her warm smiles and quiet steadiness. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.

Rita was a dear friend. She set an example for us to cope through adversity. She was very active, becoming involved in many projects at Carolina Village. She was a great supporter of the arts and did lovely pottery. My condolences to her family. She will be missed by so many of us.

I am shocked, dismayed and broken-hearted to hear of my cousin Rita's untimely passing. I will miss her greatly. The fact that we both lost children brought us closer together. We spoke at least weekly, I already miss her balance and poise, which she seemed always be capable of. A dear soul who had so much faith in waiting to see what happens next.

Rita was a role model for perseverance and optimism. "It will get better tomorrow," she would say, and mean it, choosing not to dwell on adversity. I will remember her for her ready smile, soft voice, and her selfless devotion to whatever project she was involved with.

Rita was a good friend and a valued member of our women's group. She was my role model for making those difficult decisions of aging with grace and wisdom. I'll miss her.
