I am deeply saddened to have learned of Dr. Karp's passing.  He was my psychiatrist for more than a decade and, throughout that time, I came to care immensely for him.  During my struggles with mental health, I have been treated by countless doctors in the field; and I can honestly say that Dr. Karp's kindness, commitment, and compassion were second to none.  He helped me through the darkest times in my life.  I am forever grateful for his guidance and to have had the opportunity to know him.

God bless you, Dr. Karp.  I will never forget you or the profound impact you have had on my life.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am completely shocked and saddened to learn of Dr Karp's passing. I was a patient of his for over 5 years and Dr Karp was not only the best doctor I've ever had but he saved my life and allowed me to completely turn my life around. The person I was the first day I saw him and the last were completely different people. He allowed me to reclaim my life and his professionalism, empathy, and support got me through the hardest time in my life. I wish I knew about his illness sooner so I could of written to tell him how I am a happy, successful mom of two now and that he inspired me to become a counselor which I am now in graduate school for. Thank you, Dr Karp, and I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to really thank you and show you what an amazing Doctor you were. To his parents and family, I hope you accept my sincerest condolences. He was a truly great man, and the kind of doctor they should all strive to be.

Robert was as kind and gentle as a man can be...let alone a doctor of his talents. He never judged, never looked down his nose, asked intelligent questions and always, always cared.

I'm a former patient of Dr. Karp's and I'm so sad to hear of his passing. At one point I became hospitalized with a viral infection and he came by my room in Overlook and visited me. He was a terrific psychiatrist and I really enjoyed our sessions. He improved my standard of living so much and I'm forever grateful to him for that. He was a great man that I will truly miss.

I will really miss having Dr. Robert Karp in my community.  He was the best psychiatrist I had come across in the area - his compassion, understanding and commitment to his patients was wonderful and inspiring.  I always knew when I sent a client to work with him that they would get the very best treatment.  Robert was such a great colleague.  I really miss him.  Robert was always so friendly, kind and personable and always genuine about his caring.  Good bye Rob -- you really were one of the best.  My deepest and heart-felt condolences to all his family.

I met Rob in 2001. Over the course of our 15 year doctor patient ralationship, he helped me to achieve a quality of life that I could not have imagined on the day we first met. Rob was most appreciated for his unique ability to be non-judgmental, kind, patient and dedicated to his patients. His karma levels were through the roof. I loved Rob and will always be grateful to him.

I had the great privilege  to work with Rob in the early 90's at Fair Oaks Hospital. I was a social worker and working there was the best experience  of my life. Robviously was kind, funny, compassionate and a brilliant physician. I just learned about his passing last night from a good friend and am stunned . I have lived in Georgia for the past 15 years so I   have been out of touch. I pray that you are at peace, Rob and I  pray for your family. God bless  you.

Dr.Karp was such a compassionate person. He always cared about his patients more then most other doctors do. I can't say enough about how much he helped me. Iam forever grateful that I had an opportunity to know him. He set the perfect example of how Doctors ought to be. Very sad he is gone.

To Mr. and Mrs. Karp, I extend my condolences for the loss of your brilliant son.  I have just learned of his passing.  My heart is heavy. He saved and helped so many people. I am telling you all the things you already know.  Smart, kind, funny, brilliant and so very caring about so many things.  He had a gift for being an amazing doctor.  I could go on and on forever. He was so cute, I told him I prayed for him everyday and he said, you know I am Jewish, we smiled and laughed. My response was we all need prayers and I will still continue to pray for you.  He was a doctor so admired and trusted by so many.  He had a gift  for listening to his patients. This is such a great loss for so many. I could just keep going on and on. I met Rob while we were residents at the University of Maryland. He was kind, intelligent and had a wicked sense of humor.  Through the years he was a steadfast and supportive friend.  Those of us who knew him here including Manjiri, Johannes, Caroline and Abner and I were fortunate to call him our colleague and friend.  We send our deepest sympathies to his family.

I was Dr. Karp' patient for over ten years.  He saved my life.  He was kind, compassionate, brilliant and funny.  No matter what I was going through, he would always say something to make me laugh. I worked with Dr. Karp for may years, he was meticulous in his care for people, very kind and compassionate.  He sent me baby gifts when my daughter was born and Christmas gifts during the holidays. Rob was a wonderful friend over the years since our time together at Northwestern University.  I have many happy memories of trips we took to many places.
