Rose Anne Garfield (née Schwartz) was born in Brooklyn (NY) and was the last living of six children born to William and Martha Schwartz. In the 1950s, Rose married Lawrence (Larry) Garfield and they moved to Miami to begin a new life and raise a family. Rose and Larry had three sons: Robert, Nelson, and Doug.
Larry unexpectedly passed away in 1970, and Rose was thrust into the combined role of mother, father and provider, at a time when single parent households were still somewhat exceptional. In later years, Rose met and established a long-term relationship lasting more than three decades with Isaak (Red) Silber. Red passed away in 2010.
In 2002, Rose suffered an unimaginable loss when her middle son – Nelson – passed away unexpectedly at age 46.
Rose is survived by: her sons Robert (Sheryl) and Doug (Lisa); her seven grandchildren Jessica (Nick), Evan (Chloe), Cara, Linsday (Kyle), Lauren (Matt), Danny and Ross; and her two great-grandchildren Henry and Charlie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose’s memory to the American Heart Association.
