Ruth Stuzin ,93, of Miami, Fl passed away on November 27 peacefully after a brief illness.Born in a community near Pittsburgh, Pa. she had the courage to leave her small town to study nursing at Mt. Sinai Medical School in New York City. After graduating as a registered nurse she married the love of her life David Stuzin and moved to Miami in 1939. She worked as a private duty nurse until her children were born and then she devoted her time to raising her family .
As an active member of Temple Israel for almost 70 years , she and her husband David
were involved in the community and helped establish Cedars of Lebanon Hospital where he was a co-founder ( now known as the University of Miami Hospital). Wednesday was her day to put on her nurses uniform and work as a volunteer in the recovery room at Cedars Hospital. When David passed away in 1982, Ruth retired her uniform. She spent the next 30 years of her life , enjoying her loving family. She was a woman who had great courage and devotion and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
The beloved wife of 44 years to the late David Stuzin. loving mother of Charles Stuzin(Rosalyn) , James Stuzin(Fortuna ) and the late Judith Stuzin Jacobson;dear sister of Elizabeth Elias and Thomas Elias;cherished grandmother of Laura Stuzin - Bernstein( Daniel ),Daniel Stuzin( April ),Regina Stuzin and David Stuzin,adored great grandmother of Eric and Michael Bernstein, Kate ,Sarah and Ava Stuzin .
Chapel services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 2:30 p.m.. at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel at Mt. Nebo Kendall, 5900 SW 77 Ave, Miami Fl 305 -274-0641
In lieu of flowers ,donations in her memory can be made to Temple Israel of Greater Miami.
