On Monday, July 26th, Shirley (Fineberg) Slatkin passed away at age 94. Shirley was born July 14th, 1927, to Isaac and Rebecca Fineberg. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Brooklyn College, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She married Dr. Meyer "Mike" Slatkin and raised two children, Charles and Carol, while managing her husband's medical practice in Brooklyn, NY.
Over the last fifteen years, she was the matriarch of the Slatkin and Fineberg families while residing in Bal Harbour, Florida. She loved collecting antiques, watching tennis, completing the New York Times Crossword puzzle (in ink), and visits from her children, grandchildren, and a great-grandson. She recently celebrated her 94th birthday together with her family.
Known for her humor and vivacious spirit, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mike, and her parents and siblings Jack, Charles, Irving, and Freda. Her two children survive her, Charles H. Slatkin of Paxton and wife Marcia of Paxton, MA and her daughter, Carol A. Slatkin and husband Paul Rusnak, of Washington, DC., as well as her grandchildren, David Slatkin, Rebecca Sloane and husband Jason Sloane, Lilly Frohlinger and husband Jack Frohlinger, Alice Rusnak, a great-
grandson, Henry Frohlinger, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life memorial will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to; Doctors without Borders, American Cancer Society, or charitable organizations of your choice.
