Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 21, 1946, to Irene and Irving Sussman, and raised in Coral Gables. Bill was class of Coral Gables High 1964, University of Miami 1970, and University of Pennsylvania Law 1973.
Bill spent his life connecting with people and finding ways to be of service to others: as a veteran, an attorney, and a mediator. He served as a lay leader for Temple Beth Am for more than 40 years assuring anyone suffering through a hospitalization was visited by a friendly face, kind words, and often a song. For decades he was very involved with the Alzheimer’s Association, raising funds to research a cure to eradicate the disease. Bill was a man who led with his heart and expressed that through music and poetry. His hugs were healing and his singing was beautiful.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara Dickson Sussman; his loving daughters, Melissa Sussman Fox (David) and Liza Sussman Miller (Jon); his cherished grandsons Henry and Simon Fox and Russell Miller; his brother Moshe Sussman (Ruthi), his nieces and nephew, Shoshana Putney (Eli), Chaya Gold (Jonathan), Binyamin Sussman, Yael Fay (Phillip), and their children.
Bill's funeral was held Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
May his memory be a blessing.
