

Admiral Leo (Mick) Medsker, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 10th, 2025. He resided in Middleburg, FL for the last 23 years and was a Callahan, FL resident for many years before that. Admiral was born September 22, 1933 in Beech Grove, Arkansas to father Admiral Dewey Medsker and mother Fronie Lea Owens. He was a high school graduate and a U.S. veteran, having served 6 years in the United States Air Force. After his time in the military, Admiral made a home for himself in Jacksonville, FL where he worked at the paper mill until pursuing his love of construction. He worked for The Haskell Company for 30 years until his retirement as a Superintendent at age 69. Everyone who knew Admiral knew how much he loved his family, gardening, cows, horses, and his chickens. Admiral enjoyed sitting on the porch, telling stories and talking with his loved ones. He always shared that he should have written a book about his life, saying “it sure has been a good one.” He was known in the neighborhood by his egg business and could be recognized anywhere by his overalls and cowboy hat.
Admiral is survived by his brother Major Medsker, sister Ozella Harris, and sister-in-law Melba Sue Bowen. Admiral is also survived by his children Christie (Randy) Burdine, Teddy Medsker, and Soney (Danny) DeNapoli. He had several grandchildren, Mick Westbrook, Casey Jo Sapp, Sarah (Michael) Adham, Jordan (Sophia) Long, Rachel DeNapoli, and Charlotte (Spencer) LeSage. Great- Grandchildren Adrienne, Jocelynn, Mercedez, Sebastian, Addison, Joshua, Aubrey, and one more due in November, Luke. Admiral was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed. His family sends their thanks to all those who helped with his care in his last year and for all the thoughts and prayers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18th, 2025. Visitation will be at 11:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home located at 3601 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg, FL 32068.
Graveside will be at 1:30 pm (Lane 3) at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
A visitation for Admiral will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
