Brian Mark Short

Brian lived a life defined by faith, honor, service, and unwavering love for his family. A proud Christian, he carried his beliefs with quiet strength and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Brian honorably served his country in the United States Navy, dedicating many years of faithful military service in a myriad of leadership and operational roles. His military career afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world, broadening his perspective while reinforcing his deep commitment to serving others and his nation. Upon his honorable retirement from the Navy, Brian continued his exemplary work ethic as the Operations Manager for Momentum Management in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he was respected for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication.

Above all else, Brian was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Katherine L. Short, building a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. His family was the center of his world, and he found joy in spending time with his grandchildren, whose lives were forever enriched by his wisdom, kindness, and playful spirit.

Known for his generous heart and wonderful sense of humor, Brian had an incredible ability to make others smile. A natural jokester, he brought laughter wherever he went and had a gift for lifting the spirits of those around him. His warmth, compassion, and willingness to help anyone in need reflected the remarkable man he was.

Brian embraced the outdoors and found peace in nature. Whether waterskiing across the lake, enjoying cheering on his beloved University of Florida Gators, boating, and deep sea fishing—he lived life with enthusiasm and appreciation for God's creation.

Brian leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be treasured forever by his beloved wife, Katherine L. Short; his mother, Lucianne Short-Clubb; his son, Christopher M. Short and wife, Desiree Short; his cherished grandchildren, Elijah Michael and Brantley Mark; his brother, Todd Short and wife, Cyndi Short; his sisters, Vickey Harkins and Angela Gomes and husband, Norman Gomes; his nephews, August Short and Garrett Harkins; and niece, Tori Short; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Short, and his brother, Scott Short.

Though his earthly journey has come to an end, Brian's legacy of faithful service, enduring love, steadfast character, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored.

A Memorial Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.

All guests attending the service are respectfully requested to stage in Procession Lane 1 upon arrival.
