Cristine “Cris” Pornovetz died on December 15th, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Clay County, Florida.Cristine Agnes Pornovetz was born March 10th, 1961 in Edison, NJ. She was the youngest child of Louis and Geraldine Julian, joining her siblings Louis, Catherine, Joseph, Thomas, and James. As a girl, Cris enjoyed watching bears play while on vacation in Maine, getting treats such as candy from her brothers and ice cream from her father, and getting pizza late into the night with her mother.
While in New Jersey, Cristine met George Pornovetz and the two married on April 26th, 1986. The two moved to Port Orange Florida where they had three wonderful children, Janelle, Chelsea, and Nicholas. Cris worked as a waitress and eventually an insurance claims processor at night so she could care for the children during the day, switching with George in the evening. Cris made many good friends through her work and her attention to detail and sharp memory served her well. Cris loved spending time with her children, and eventually her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading to them, throwing tea parties, going shopping, and sneaking them treats. Her favorite was Dairy Queen’s large vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles. It was a sad day when DQ stopped carrying her preferred sprinkles, but she never stopped looking for them. Cris relished her time traveling and made frequent trips to the Palazzo and Venetian in Vegas with George. She welcomed any excuse to travel, whether overseas to Europe, a family trip out West, and even a work training trip to Chicago was a welcome adventure. Cris celebrated many occasions with her favorite home cooked meals, especially around the holidays. Her specialties included signature chicken dishes such as Chicken Cordon Bleu (watch the toothpicks!), Chicken Parm (substitute mozzarella for the parm) and desserts of chocolate pudding pie and 7 layer bars. Every meal was packed with love and “deeeeeelicious!”
Cristine is survived by her husband George Pornovetz; her children Janelle (Andy Jacobs) Pornovetz, Chelsea (Matt) Andrews, and Nicholas Pornovetz; her grandchildren Bryson and Hayden Andrews; and her siblings Joseph (Jackie) Julian, Cathy DeSarno, and Thomas Julian.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for March of 2026, with details to be made available shortly.
