David was born February 25, 1943 to Clyde and Catherine Simpson in Grandville, Illinois. He grew up with two brothers, Clyde, Jr. and James. David joined the US Navy in 1961 and served four years with HATRON Nine. After the US Navy, David held many jobs, before settling down in DeLand, Florida to work for Stetson University for 20 years.
David has been active in his retirement at the American Legion (Post 6-DeLand) and the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE 3959-DeLand). With the Eagles, he earned Grand Aerie status as a Past President of 3959.
He was also active in his church, Abundant Life Fellowship in Peirson, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie L. Simpson, brothers Clyde, Jr. and James Simpson, and is
survived by his son, David D. Simpson. Daughters, Dorothy "Dotty" White and Son-in-Law, Ken White; Vicki Alvarez and Allison Rapan. Grandchildren: Jessica Lines, Jeff Davis, Chris Simpson, Jassion Simpson, Joshua Rapan and Brittany Rapan.
Mr. Simpson will be laid to rest with his wife Jennie, on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 2:30pm in Florida National Cemetery (BUSHNELL) 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513. The United States NAVY will provide honors.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday September 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Abundant Life Fellowship,
1509 S. County Road 3, Peirson, Florida 32180.
