I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Starling towards the end of his life while attending First Baptist Ortega.He had a servant's heart and was a shining example to me of what a Christian walk should be like.(He had a great singing voice too!!) God Bless you sir

I was honored to meet Mr Leroy while at First Baptist Ortega.He was a humble servant of God,,with a calm demeanor. A huge Gators fan! (I am a better person having known Mr Leroy)RIP 

Thoughts and PRAYERS are with the Starling  Family.. 

I think I met Leroy when I was assigned to the school board. I was a JSO police lieutenant at that time.  We clicked instantly. He was so great to work with. He had such a wonderful demeanor about him. Ibis hard work ethic was always apparent. I will always remember him as a very wise and thoughtful man. I am so thankful I had the privilege of meeting him. 



Mrs. Starling,  I was truly saddened to hear of Bro. Starlings passing!  You both are/ were such sweet,  loving people!  I always enjoyed hearing him sing!  The last time I heard him sing in person was at Dorothy Tisons funeral.  I will be praying for you and your family for peace and comfort as only Jesus can give!  We will all rejoice one day when we are reunited with loved ones who have all gone before!  That will be a glorious day! Mavis, I am so very sorry to hear about Leroy.  I have missed you and Leroy ever since you moved from being my next door neighbors. You were always the perfect people to have next door.  I could go to you guys for anything, problems, whatever I needed you two were always there.  In the morning I would be going to work and you and Leroy were on the front porch telling me how wonderful retirement was.  Leroy was so helpful, always helping me out, mowing my grass, cutting off heads of snakes lol.  I will always treasure the time we shared.  My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. So sorry to learn of Leroy's passing, but am rejoicing that he is in Heaven now and you all will be reunited.  I always admired Leroy as an epitome of a "Gentleman."  I enjoyed hearing him sing in the Victory Class. From the first time I saw him, I've always thought he looked like Clint Eastwood.  I mentioned it to him one time; he smiled and said, "I hear that a lot!"

Leroy was a very special person in the life of the Moon family. We grew up in the same church and I always admired him and his wife. He was with our pastor when they came to notify my family that my brother was killed in the line of duty. He had the most beautiful voice and sang at the funerals of my father, mother and sister. He was a respected law enforcement officer and I was proud to call him friend. See you in Heaven Leroy.

Leroy, was like a brother. We were neighbors , shared offices and  always could count on him. He will be missed and will always remember the good times... Miss you LDS!

We were so saddened to hear of his homegoing. Wayne knew him most if his life from Jacksonville Baptist Temple. My family joined when I was a teenager and have memories of that smooth voice singing songs unto tbe Lord.   I know he will be missed. Love and prayers at this time.

Mr. Starling is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mavis Starling; son, David (Belinda) Starling; daughter, Karen (Cliff) Broughton; brother, Ron (Martha) Starling; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
