David Edward Upton

David married the love of his life, Jacqueline Upton, on May 14, 1983. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. While still serving in the Air Force, David and Jackie started their family. They had four beautiful children, Stephanie Bywater (Phillip), Matthew Upton, Zachary Upton (Thelma) and Jesse Upton. He leaves behind 3 beautiful grandchildren, Lachlan Bywater, Aurora Bywater and Anaelle Upton. He also leaves behind his wonderful brothers and sisters and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

David and Jackie started their own tractor trailer business and traveled around the United States. They used this time to sightsee their wonderful country and enjoyed making their own schedule. He loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to various preachers while traveling. David enjoyed fishing, working on projects, fixing what was broken and staying busy. David never met a stranger and would often make a 15-minute shopping trip into an hour and a half-long trip because he enjoyed people. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed playing and being a big part of their lives. We would often find the grandkids at his house, playing outside or eating popcorn. His children called their dad a superhero, and even as adults, still see him that way. He was always there for them through their ups and downs and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. David made continued efforts to keep his family members all connected by making group text messages. No social media site was forgotten! Family was important to him and he did a great job trying to keep everyone connected. David had a witty sense of humor and always had a saying that would leave you either blushing or laughing.

He is preceded in death by his parents James and Alice Upton and his son, Zachary Upton.

We all miss David’s laugh, his jokes and hearing about the latest adventure he was on. In our grief we are comforted and supported by all the loving thoughts and prayers of those who loved and knew David.

A Celebration of Life for David will be held 1 PM, Friday, March 11, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Middleburg, 2645 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg, FL 32068. Lunch will be served at Lake Ashbury Baptist Church, 2674 Henley Road, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 immediately following the Celebration of Life.
