

Dorothy Iris Lowe, age 88 was a beloved wife, sister, mom, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and love. Born to the late Ira and Dorothy “Dot” McVeigh, Iris was one of five siblings; Beverly Combs, Patsy Everette, Bill McVeigh & John McVeigh and is preceded in death by her sister Beverly and her brother Bill.
Iris met the love of her life at age 15 and married Edwin Charles Lowe, on March 7, 1957, beginning a journey that would span decades filled with unwavering devotion, shared dreams, and countless treasured memories. Their bond was one of deep mutual respect and enduring love – a true partnership built on laughter, loyalty, and strength through life’s many seasons. Iris and Ed supported one another through every triumph and trial, finding joy in everyday moments and comfort in each other’s presence. Whether they were spending quiet evenings at home or out enjoying the thrill of a motorcycle ride, they were happiest simply being together. It was a rare and beautiful love – one that stood the test of time and continues to serve as an inspiration to all who knew them throughout their 68 years of marriage.
Iris was a proud graduate of the Jacksonville School of Technology. Iris then dedicated many years of service to the Duval County Courthouse in the Recording Department, where she later retired. Her diligence and kindness left a lasting impact on colleagues and community members alike.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Iris lived a vibrant life full of love, joy and enthusiasm. She had a deep love for gardening, finding peace and beauty among the blooms that she so lovingly tended to. Iris embraced life with an open heart and an adventurous spirit. She enjoyed motorcycle racing, water skiing, and fishing.
Remaining to cherish Iris’s memory is her devoted husband, Edwin Lowe, her loving son Eddie Lowe (Brenda), and her cherished granddaughters, Olivia Lowe and Erica Huggins (Travis), her siblings Patsy Everette and John McVeigh (Deannie), many nieces/nephews and extended family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
A funeral service for Iris will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 10:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068, interment to follow. Please join the family following the service at their residence for a Celebration of Life Fellowship.
