

John Elmer Pettis, Sr. of Green Cove Springs, Florida was born November 20, 1925 in Alford, Jackson County, Florida. On November 5, 2015 Elmer passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family.
During his life, he worked as the Supervisor of Maintenance at Sealtest Foods in both Marianna and Jacksonville, Florida. After retiring from Sealtest, he worked several years in the same capacity for Gustafson’s Dairy in Green Cove Springs, Florida. After this period he continued to use his skills remodeling and repairing many homes around Clay County. Throughout his entire lifetime he enjoyed fishing with friends and family. He instilled the love of fishing in his son, John, as well as his grandsons and great grandchildren.
Elmer was devoted to family and friends. He loved to help anyone in need and would offer whatever he could provide. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Inez Pettis, his children; Nina (Pete) Peters, John (Cathy) Pettis, his grandchildren; Kelly (Robert) Moye, Wesley (Melissa) Peters, Joseph (Cindy) Peters, Stephanie (Anthony) DiVito, and Dennis (Ashley) Pettis, his great grandchildren; Justin Farmer, Kathryne Moye, Tre Moye, Rachel Peters, Sabrina Peters, Jordyn Peters, Samantha DiVito, Hailey Pettis, and Brooke Pettis. Also sister-in-law Ruth (Butch) Sitts, Pearl (Earl-deceased) Maddox, Jodie (Sarah) Tatum, Lee (Edell-deceased) Estensen, in addition to a large family of Pettis and Maddox nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10 November 2015 at 2 PM in the chapel at Holly Hill Funeral Home at 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL with Pastor Tim McDaniel officiating. The family will receive visiting family and friends from 1 PM to 2 PM on Tuesday, 10 November 2015 at Holly Hill Chapel.
