We gather today to remember Elsie Faye Mills - beloved wife, mother, and mamaw...sister, daughter, and friend. Her gentle way, her steadfast love, and her reflection of Christ have left a lasting legacy in all who knew her.
Faye was 86 years old when she passed. She lived a long and beautiful life - one that is clearly reflected in the faces of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of fiath, love, and strength lives on in each of them.
Her gentle correction, always wrapped in love, was something truly special. She had a way of guiding you without ever making you feel less - only more loved. She prayed unceasingly - for her family, for the lost, and for anyone in need. And when she sang in the spirit to the Lord, it felt as though Heaven itself had drawn near...like hearing angels sing.
Faye married the love of her life, Donald "Don" Mills, on October 21, 1955. They shared 70 and a half wonderful years of marriage. During that time, Faye and Don raised six children and were blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Through every season of life, she carried herself with grace and dignity, exemplifying a true Proverbs 31 woman.
Her faith in the Lord was the very foundation of who she was. It wasn't just something she believed - It was something she lived out daily. That faith was deeply planted in the hearts of her children through her example and through the way she showed what it truly means to love Christ above all else.
Because of her faith, 137 lives - whether born into this family or married into it - have been touched, prayed over, and ministered to. The legacy of her faith is clearly evident in the lives of her children, her children's children, and their children.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Richard and Grace Rose; eight of her eleven siblings; her sons, Donald and David; her grandson, Kyle.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don; her children, Dani (Laurie), Dennis (Brenda), Dwight (Diane), and Dianna (Mason); her daughters-in-law, Barbara and Debra; her brothers, Raymond and Jerry; her sister, Cindy; as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Today, while our hearts feel the weight of her absence, we also rest in the peace of knowing exactlywhere she is. The same faith Faye lived by has now become her sight. She is whole, she is at peace, and she is in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply. And though her voice may be quiet here, her song continues in each of us - in the love she gave, the prayers she prayed, and the faith she so faithfully passed down.
May we honor her not only in remembrance, but in the way we live, love, and trust God - just as she did. Until we see her again, we hold tightly to the legacy she leaves behind and the promise that this is not godbye, but only "see you later."
