Frances was born on March 28th 1945 to the late John and Frances Santora in Brooklyn, NY. She was the fifth child in a family of nine with 7 brothers and 1 sister. In her younger years she loved to sing back up in her brother Jimmy’s band.
Frances was married at 18 to Louis E. Verdi in 1964. They were married for 57 years and had four children, Christina Verdi-Barea the late John Verdi, the late Louis Verdi jr. and Joseph A. Verdi.
She loved to play cards, writing poetry and crocheting. She also enjoyed growing orchids on her patio garden and traveling with my dad as they cruised to many wonderful destinations with dad’s brothers and sisters.
Family was the most important thing to mom. She was an amazing wife, mother grandmother and friend. She was always there for us through good times and bad. She showered her love on her grandchildren, Nicholas, Kristopher, Gianna, Joseph Jr., Andrew, the late Mathew Louis, and Vincenzo and great granddaughter Lillie.
She loved having a house full of family and friends and was an excellent cook, always making enough food in case anyone stopped by for Sunday dinner.
Frances loved to shop, especially at JC Penny. She also enjoyed getting her hair and nails done every week. She was feisty but her home was always filled with warmth and love, she made everyone feel like family. She was the epitome of the Italian matriarch, “where are you going, who are you going with, when will you be back, are you hungry?”
Her passing has left a huge void in our hearts and she will be greatly missed by the many lives she impacted.
Frances was preceded in death by husband Louis E. Verdi Sr. sons Louis Verdi Jr. and John L. Verdi, grandson Mathew L. Verdi. Brothers: Joey Santora, Junior Santora, Petey Santora, Jimmy Santora, Sal Santora, Pauly Santora, and Henry Santora.
